Noia announces luncheon keynote speakers for Oil & Gas Conference 2019

From Noia
Issued May 15, 2019

Noia is pleased to announce the three luncheon keynote speakers for the annual Noia Oil & Gas Conference taking place June 17-20, 2019 at the St. John’s Convention Centre.

On Tuesday, June 18, General Rick Hillier (Retired) will take to the stage with his commanding speaking style which focuses on leadership, particularly during difficult times. Hillier was Chief of the Defence Staff of the Canadian Forces from February 4, 2005 until his retirement on July 1, 2008. He has held many leadership roles throughout his career. He was appointed the first Canadian deputy commanding general of III Corps, U.S. Army in Fort Hood, Texas and, in 2000, took command of NATO’s Stabilization Force’s Multinational Division (Southwest) in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Hillier is an officer of the Order of Canada, a member of the Order of Newfoundland and Labrador and a former chancellor of Memorial University.

Laughter will be certainly be on the agenda during the Wednesday, June 19 luncheon when Mark Critch, star of This Hour has 22 Minutes, will be the keynote speaker. Starting as a writer and then a regular cast member of 22 Minutes, Critch is welcomed into the homes of Canadians every week with his unique brand of humour and hilarious impersonations of celebrities and politicians, such as Donald Trump and Danny Williams. He has also starred in movies and a documentary about the Royal Newfoundland Regiment and recently became a bestselling author with the release of a memoir titled Son of A Critch. He will surely have interesting observations to share about our political times and the oil & gas industry during his luncheon address.

Noia is pleased to welcome on Thursday, June 20, the Honourable Christy Clark, premier of British Columbia from 2011-2017, as the final keynote luncheon speaker of the Noia Oil & Gas Conference. Known as a consensus builder and supporter of the oil & gas industry, Clark led an aggressive agenda for job creation and balanced budgets. She will speak about Canada’s energy sector, including LNG opportunities and regulatory processes and the impacts they have on industry growth and success, as well as Newfoundland and Labrador’s place in the Canadian energy context. Aside from being a former premier, Clark was also the host of a daily radio show in Vancouver and continues to be an avid watcher and commentator on Canadian politics and the energy sector.

Keynote luncheons begin at 12:45 p.m.
