Noia Remembers Flight 491 Tragedy

St. John’s, NL – Sunday, March 12 marks the eighth anniversary of the Flight 491 tragedy. Today, the Newfoundland and Labrador Oil & Gas Industries Association (Noia) remembers the victims of this terrible accident.

“On behalf of Noia’s membership and our Board of Directors, our thoughts and prayers remain with the families and friends of those who lost their lives as a result of this tragedy,” said Andrew Bell, Chair of Noia’s Board of Directors. “While this terrible accident occurred eight years ago, its impact is still strongly felt by all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians, especially those involved in the offshore industry.”

Noia Remembers Ocean Ranger Tragedy

St. John’s, NL – Today marks the 35th anniversary of the sinking of the Ocean Ranger off the coast of Newfoundland and Labrador.

The Board of Directors is the governing body and provides strategic direction for the largest oil & gas industry association in Canada. Andrew Bell succeeds Raymond Collins as Board Chair. Mr. Collins moves into the Past-Chair role with Liam O’Shea taking over as Vice Chair.

Noia Welcomes Another New Entrant to NL Offshore

St. John’s, NL – The Newfoundland and Labrador Oil & Gas Industries Association (Noia) is pleased to welcome Total E&P Canada as the newest entrant to the NL offshore oil & gas industry.

Total E&P Canada has joined the industry as the result of a transfer of interest in EL1136, located in the Carson Basin. Previously held by ExxonMobil and Suncor at 50 per cent each, the block is now held by the three parties at one-third each.

Noia-Hibernia Scholarship Recipient Announced

St. John’s, NL – The winner of the 2016 Noia-Hibernia Scholarship is Jenna Broders of Conception Bay South. The Queen Elizabeth High School honours student received her $1,000 award at Noia’s 2016 Fall Seminar, which took place today in St. John’s.

Following her graduation from high school with a 94 per cent average, Jenna enrolled in Memorial University where she is currently studying science and engineering with the goal of working in the petroleum industry.

Noia Welcomes Record-Breaking Land Sale Results

St. John’s, NL (November 10, 2016) The Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board (C-NLOPB) has announced the results of Call for Bids NL16-CFB01 in the Eastern Newfoundland Region and Call for Bids NL16-CFB02 in the Jeanne d’Arc Region, both located in the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Area.

The total value of the bids was $757,989,794 in work commitments. Of that total, $513,972,018 is the value of work commitments made in the Eastern Newfoundland Region. In this region, successful operators and investors are BP Canada Energy Group, Hess Canada Oil and Gas, Noble Energy Canada, Nexen Energy and Delek Group (Navitas Petroleum Ltd. and DKL Investments Ltd.).
