Arup Selected by Husky Energy to Design Wellhead Platform Concrete Gravity Structure for White Rose Extension Project

HOUSTON, April 18, 2014 /CNW/ - Arup, a multidisciplinary engineering and consulting firm with a reputation for delivering innovative and sustainable designs, announced today that it has been selected by Husky Energy to carry out the detailed engineering design (DED) for the White Rose Extension Project (WREP) concrete gravity structure. Subject to partner, corporate and regulatory approvals, WREP is being developed through the construction of a wellhead platform, and Arup will be responsible for the DED of the concrete gravity structure (CGS) of the wellhead platform. The CGS will be constructed in a purpose-built dry graving dock and, when completed, will be the first fixed wellhead platform off the coast of Newfoundland & Labrador.

The audience, comprised of students, oil and gas industry leaders, government representatives and the general public, heard about the impact the industry is having on this province and the opportunities it presents for Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.

Noia welcomes permanent removal of customs duties on drill rigs

Members of Noia, the Newfoundland & Labrador Oil & Gas Industries Association, were pleased to see the permanent removal of customs duties on offshore drill rigs in the federal budget brought down Tuesday, February 11th.  Economic Action Plan 2014 proposes to permanently eliminate tariffs on mobile offshore drilling units (MODUs) used in offshore oil & gas exploration and development.
