PIHRC was established in December, 1998 to consider employment, training and other relevant human resource development issues related to the emerging regional petroleum sector. The committee has been involved in identifying and discussing key gaps and issues related to human resources supply and demand within the offshore petroleum industry, including the supply and service sector. PIHRC is comprised of senior industry and government representatives. Member organizations currently include: Newfoundland Ocean Industry Association (NOIA); Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP); Chevron; College of the North Atlantic; Halliburton; Jacques Whitford; Petro-Canada; Schlumberger; Upstream Solutions; Whelan Petroleum Personnel Management; Service Canada; and the provincial departments of Natural Resources; Education; and Human Resources, Labour and Employment.
