The Story Behind the Stone
The Award for Outstanding Contribution and Partnership was designed to reflect outstanding achievement in an industry that perseveres in the face of extreme environmental conditions. Jim Maunder, who designed the award, carefully selected his materials to represent the elements which characterize the oil & gas industry.
The tetrahedron shape represents strength, stability and perseverance. It is made from stainless steel and was laser cut by C & W Industrial for the artist. The base of the award is made from a stone mined in Labrador called Anhydrite, which is composed of iridescent blue crystals. The artist had this stone cut by Meyer’s Minerals of Pasadena, Newfoundland. Together, these three elements beautifully combine to create an award that represents twenty-five years of achievement and ingenuity within the industry.
